The Types of relationships list contains the relations between persons in the address book, for example “Works for...”, “Is a contact person for...” or “Is the managing director of...”. You enter a relation for a person on the “Related persons” tab.
You will find relationship types in the menu Other → Code lists → Types of relationships. The list is fixed - you do not add or delete types. You can edit only a type that has “Requires subject” ticked.
Default relationship types
- Works for...
- Is a contact person for...
- Is acquainted with...
- Is the owner of...
- Is the managing director of...
- Keeps accounts for...
- Is a manager for...
- Is a division of...
- Is affiliated with ...
Of the default types, only “Works for...” requires a subject; the subject is, for example, a job position. When editing this type, you choose in the “Element type” field whether the subject is selected from fixed options or typed freely. You enter the fixed options in the “Options” field and add each further one via “Add another”.
Where relations are used
- “Is a manager for...” determines the superior:
- rules for documents use it to send documents to the superior for approval (for example, the approver “Superior of the related user or the paying person of the document”)
- with the right “View your manager's label and sub-labels”, an employee sees the sub-labels owned by their superior
- when importing employees from Microsoft Entra ID, ReFIS sets this relation according to the managers in Entra ID
- “Is a contact person for...” - rules for documents can send a document for approval to the contact person of the supplier or customer (approver “Contact person of the external person from the document”)
- “Is a contact person for...” and “Keeps accounts for...” - when sending documents by e-mail, ReFIS also offers the e-mail addresses of these persons
